"You've Gotta Start Somewhere"

For anyone that knows me, you know I’m a big Daddy’s girl. Don’t get me wrong, my Momma is my best friend too. My Dad has shown me how to follow your true passion, no matter how many times you get knocked down. He is humble, tough yet gentle, and has the biggest heart I have ever seen. My parents always taught me to be myself, and at times that can be hard in a world that is telling you to be something different. My Dad always taught me that it starts with YOU and YOUR mindset. He has been the one to always take risks, and never regrets them. I was never really one to take risks or that leap of faith, until I decided to study abroad. I never would have thought in my entire life that I would travel across the world at 20 years old, but dang am I glad I did! I grew in who I was, became stronger in exploring new things, and learned to take those risks. When the idea of Raybell came up from Dad, I saw it as a risk. Sure, I had taken business classes in college but I knew nothing about creating an online store, let alone a business. “Well, you’ve gotta start somewhere, right?” And that somewhere was exploring opportunities, researching the industry, finding the target market, and truly opening my heart to what I was passionate about. But “starting somewhere” relates to everything in life. To begin something new, there always has to be a starting point. My biggest fear within starting a new business was the risk and sometimes failure that comes after it. But, I had to change my mindset.

I had to be open to failing. It’s until you fail that you truly learn and grow. I had to assess the failures that may take place in this business. I guess I learned to see failure as a test. If you fail, and get back up again, it truly shows how bad you want it. If you fail and give up, it may not have been as important to you in the first place. It’s an opportunity to begin again, a change in perspective.
